3 hour Mini-Beginner Encaustic Class
with Amalia Tagaris at Gorse Mill studios
The mini-beginner encaustic workshop will provide an introduction to the process of encaustic painting which will include discussions on the history of encaustic painting, materials and equipment you will need to get started, a variety of in-class demonstrations and some important safety precautions to practice.
The students will have the time to experiment with some of the techniques learned and will take home a small panel from the workshop that they have worked on.
The instructor will also provide the class a list of helpful references for everything encaustic… reading materials, art supply sources, encaustic organizations, etc.
How much does the workshop cost?
The 3 hour mini-beginner workshop is $75 per student.
What time is the workshop?
The workshop runs from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on Wednesdays.
What is included in class fee?
3 hours of combined class instruction and hands-on interaction with encaustic.
A class agenda packed with important encaustic related information and resources.
A primed, wood panel ready for encaustic painting.
Use of all classroom materials such as waxes, brushes, heat-gun, papers, and assorted tools.
What should I bring?
You don't have to bring anything unless you want to take notes so a pad and pen would be helpful.
I will hand out a class agenda that you can take notes on as well.
You're welcome to bring in your coffee/tea!
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably with clothing you wouldn't mind getting paint on.
You may want to bring your own smock to protect your clothing.
The studio is heated but you may want to bring a sweater just in case.
Also, you'll want to be able to literally "roll up your sleeves" to work.
What time should I show up for class?
Since we have a lot to cover in a short period of time, getting to class just a few minutes before starting time is great so you can settle in!

Cancellation Policy:
If you cannot make it to a class you are reserved for, please try and contact me at least 24 hours prior to the class so your spot can be filled with another student and also so I can plan accordingly.
